Reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki master during an attunement process — a powerful spiritual experience that opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras and creates a lifelong link to the Reiki source.
Initiations are required to link one to the Reiki energy. In first degree, there are four initiations for permanent attunement of the upper chakras, study of aura, basic knowledge of energy. Once attuned to the Reiki Ray, the individual can never lose it. First degree attunement is the foundation for all other initiations.
The second degree requires further initiations for attunement, to power keys which provide an increase of power from the Reiki Ray. This degree includes technique for absentee healing (distant healing) and mental emotional healing. In second degree the students are further trained in healing using divine symbols.
The seven chakras are the energy centres that run along your spine, each governing different aspects of your physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
